The pictures below show the arrival of a 'Posho Mill', paid for by Enkisuma. The mill will be operated at the local market by 9 widows who will use the mill to help generate a living. These women shared 2 or 3 husbands who were killed by elephants and lions. Maasai women generally have no rights to property or livestock, so, without a means to make a living, are forced into prostitution or destitution. The women have 51 children between them, some of which can be found on our 'sponsor a child' link.
We've also been able to fund the salary of a teacher at Mosiro primary school in an extremely rural area of the Maasai land.. Rhodah works tirelessly for the children in her care and because of the financial challenges of the parents was not always paid her full salary. Making sure that she is paid properly means that the school doesn't have to turn pupils away who can't pay school fees.
